Galway Bay Brewery, one of Ireland’s most established craft breweries, have kicked off the new year with the launch of a full range of canned beers.
Galway Bay Brewery’s core range will now be available in 33cl cans, with all limited edition, seasonal, and collaborative brews available in 44cl cans. The cans can be purchased in retailers and off-licences across the country from this week, with selected bars also stocking the cans.
The core range includes Of Foam & Fury, a double IPA with big tropical fruit flavour, a bittersweet balance and complex flavour; Full Sail, a simple malt beer with light fruity sweetness upfront, hints of zesty orange and a piney dry finish; Bay Ale, a copper coloured, traditional ale with malt and hop aromas and a smooth and well-balanced flavour; Althea, a modern American Pale Ale which is low on bitterness, yet massively hoppy on the aroma; and Buried at Sea, a chocolate milk stout brewed with milk sugars and chocolate which gives rich flavour and body whilst retaining a lightness.
New beers in the core range include Weights & Measures, a citra session IPA which is heavily hopped with massive orange, lemon and grapefruit notes; and Slow Lives, a German-style Helles Lager with a bit more body and hop bitterness on the finish. New limited edition beers will be released in cans each month.
Jason O’Connell, owner of Galway Bay Brewery, said, “We are very excited about this next step for Galway Bay Brewery and it’s great to start 2020 on such a high. In recent years we have seen increasing demand for cans of craft beer and have gotten a great reaction to the limited edition cans we have released using an outside canning service. We are delighted to have taken the canning in-house and to offer our complete core range, monthly specials and seasonal beers in cans. We do our best to be as sustainable and environmentally conscious as possible, and the fact that cans are greener in relation to packaging, shipping and recycling is very important to us as well.”
All the beers will be brewed and canned at Galway Bay Brewery’s premium brewery in Oranmore, just outside of Galway City, with the company’s new state of the art canning machine. The entire Galway Bay Brewery range will continue to be available in 33cl and 50cl bottles nationwide.
Galway Bay Brewery’s core philosophy is that of collaboration, innovation and experimentation to ensure their brewers are constantly evolving and upskilling. Paired with the use of local, seasonal ingredients, Galway Bay Brewery produces a core range of consistent, quality beers, as well as an exciting, ever-changing selection of limited edition and seasonal beers.
Customers can buy four 33cl cans for €10.00, and the cost of the 44cl limited edition and seasonal cans vary depending on the beer. The cans will be available to purchase in all Galway Bay Brewery bars as well as off-licences and select bars across the country from this week. Confirmed retail and off-license outlets include Dublin locations Blackrock Cellar in Blackrock, Craft Central at Stephen Street News in Dublin 2, McHughs Off-Licence on the Kilbarrack Road, Drinkstore in Stoneybatter and Martins Off-Licence in Fairview; Bradleys Off-Licence in Cork City; O’Keeffe’s Wine Centre in Kilkenny; The Vineyard Off-Licence in Belfast; and Drinklink Off-Licence in Newry, with many more coming on-stream in coming weeks and months.
