Sally McKenna to Co-Host Seaweed Workshop This Weekend in Aniar

Aniar Restaurant Galway is home to the Aniar Boutique Cookery School, which hosts various one day workshops run by owner and chef JP McMahon such as newly launched How To Be A Better Cook and the popular Planning a Dinner Party.

This latest workshop however is a bit different. Extreme Greens: Understanding Seaweeds, with Sally McKenna of Bridgestone Guide / McKenna’s Guides , offers customers the experience of exploring the underestimated wonders of Irish seaweed.

The workshop runs in conjunction with the recent launch of Sally’s new book ”Extreme Greens”. Putting a unique spin on the traditional workshop format, participants will need to be equipped with wellies and head out to local beaches to forage for seaweed.

The foraging expedition led by Sally will take place from 10am to 1pm and will be followed by lunch in Eat at Massimo. Then, in the afternoon, JP and Sally will host a cookery demonstration with the seaweed that has been foraged.

Participants  will learn a range of techniques for cooking the seaweed and preparing various dishes, with things such as breads and salads being incorporated into the menu.

The workshop will run until 5pm and students are asked to bring along a container to take home some delicious samples from the day’s work.

It is set to take place this coming Sunday, June 15th, which also happens to be Father’s Day, for any of you who still haven’t got a present yet then this could be a unique gift idea.

The workshop costs €175 which also includes a signed copy of Sally’s book, so it really is exceptional value for money.
