The winners and losers of 2014 Michelin Stars were announced this morning at 7am. For Ireland there were two additions both Kilkenny, Campagne Restaurant and Lady Helen Restaurant in Mount Juliet Hotel.
From the two 2013 additions, Aniar in Galway retain their star.
Restauranteur and Chef JP McMahon said “It was been a wonderful year for Aniar and as a team we have worked hard at maintaining our standards and exceeding them. Since the awarding of the star last year we have not sat back, we have developed the menu and the food, expanded our exploration of terroir into our wine list and created a whiskey tasting and a non-alcoholic beverage tasting experience. We have worked with new local producers who make it possible to produce our ever evolving menu because of the quality of the food they produce.
I believe Michelin is a collective effort between kitchen and floor and my head chef Ultan Cooke and our manager Alex McMahon ensures each area of the restaurant is allowed to shine. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Ultan, Alex, my wife and business partner Drigin, as well as the rest of our tight Aniar family for all their hard work. It has been a journey for all of us, we look forward to continuing to raise the bar and challenge ourselves each day. It’s another great day for food in Galway.”
Aniar is located at 53 Dominick Street, Galway’s West End.Bookings can be made online www.aniarrestaurant.ie
